Why is being the best COMMUNITY cafe so important to you?
This ‘best community cafe award’ means the world to us! It’s a huge achievement and such an incredible moment where we feel appreciated for putting in all the hard work! Bringing the community together was always part of our ethos and plan from the get go!
Have you won any other awards before?
Yes we have actually;
we were delighted to be short-listed for the ‘2021 Muddy Stilettos’ award for Best Cafe in Cornwall
we’ve won the ‘South West Prestige Award Best Cafe & Yoga Studio 2021/22’ which was an honour
‘LTG Global’ also awarded us with best cafe in the south west of England 22/23
we’re also super proud to say our yoga & pilates studio won ‘Muddy Stilettos Best Studio’ in 2021
Who would you like to thank for this award?
Firstly we’d like to thank our team! Couldn’t do it without them, they’re a bunch of legends who work damn hard and we’re just so grateful that we’ve got such incredible staff who are genuinely passionate about coffee, care about the locals and they always keeping the good vibes flowing.
Secondly we’d like to thank every single person who has walked through Shiva’s doors! It’s really the customers who keep us going, without their support Shiva wouldn’t be what it is now. We’ve changed ALOT since we’ve opened and we feel we’ve developed with the community. It’s just been an insane journey opening this business through lockdown but ultimately our dream of Shiva has been kept alive by the people who support us, who we can’t thank enough! Shiva’s just had it’s 3rd birthday party so here’s to the next 3 years and more!!!
Why do you think you won the best community cafe award?
Because we put our hearts into this place. Me and Chlo had such a strong vision of what we wanted to create; based on our experiences travelling and working in India, and we are genuinely so proud to say we feel we’ve nailed what we set out to do. We’re so passionate about creating a vibe where everyone feels welcome, whether their popping in for a coffee after a pilates class or brunching with the fam.
Do you have any more community events coming up in 2023?
Absolutely, we’ve got bottomless brunch plans for May bank holiday; super exciting tandoori BBQ plans for the Kings Coronation and plenty more up our sleeves!
Do you think being a part of Nansledan, Newquay has played a big part in your receiving of the best cafe award?
Of course! Nansledan is a growing community and it’s the businesses and the locals that are moulding this new town. It’s really exciting to think we’re a part of that! Bringing people together through coffee, cake, laughs and good vibes is what we’re all about 🙂
